At around 3 a.m. this morning, after getting no more than 20 minutes of sleep all night, i got up to go to the bathroom and my vision suddenly went black and i passed out and fell to the ground. My parents rushed me to the E.R. where i was hooked up to an IV and given an EKG test. The doctor said my EKG test results were extremely abnormal, which usually translates to a heart problem. i was admitted right away so that more heart tests could be done. after getting blood drawn and tested (i got stuck by 7 needles all in all today..), i found out that i don’t actually have Epstein Barr virus, instead i have severe strep, which in some ways was good news, because its treatable (with a penicillin shot to my ass -___-) where as EBV and mono are not. However, because of the abnormal EKG results, strep was very bad news, because Strep and a heart problem could, in rare cases, be Rheumatic Fever , which is a very serious disease that causes severe damage to the heart, joints, skin, and brain. I was quickly given an Echo-cardiogram (basically an ultrasound for your heart) and thankfully my heart looked fine. However its still very possible that my strep could elevate to Rheumatic Fever in the next few months (its not contagious btw). so ill be continuing taking penicillin and praying that it doesnt turn into something that serious. All in all it was an extremely scary day, to be a 19 year old cardiac patient, with a family history of heart problems.
I wanna say thank you to everyone that was there for me today and messaged and texted me, i really appreciate it!
